I researched one for a while, I gather that a lot of parts for them are unavailable new...specifically rear shocks. There's a company who makes them, you send in your old ones and they cut out the old canister and put in a new one. Kinda pricey. But they're really neat cars, lots of potential.

That's my worry for any of the more odd ball type car being chosen for any kind of racing. You better be ready to alter it to work with parts you can actually find.

I guess that depends on what you consider to be expensive. Granted this is a totally different scenario but when it comes to rally, you may as well just go custom because a set of custom shocks is going to last you much longer than most aftermarket stuff that wasn't intended for hard use. You're looking at $1700-$2000 for a set. Not terrible IMO but that's as much as most CL shitboxes.

I just learned that Kalamazoo is a real place in the world.

Am I the only one who didn't know that?

Oh, I'm sure they would be. That doesn't surprise me. I guess the same with any obscure car like this, though. I'm sure if you spent the right amount of cash, you could find what you want for the car. But that would get pricey.

Yes anything is possible with money. Also Michigan sucks for trying to find drift cars lol

Precisely. In the grand scheme of things that really isn't bad, but if it's what you paid for the car it might be a different story.

Getting those rear shocks done, I think I remember it being 400-500 a pair. Pricey, but if you've got a nice one, it can make a good upgrade.

As an avid Mitsubishi car enthusiast I'd have to say no. The stock factory motor is anemic, swaps are fairly easy but there's almost no aftermarket for the car, especially in the suspension department. Old mitsus are hard to find parts for etc. I mean, I really like the cars, especially with a well done 4G swap, but there's a good reason they're not as popular as the s-chassis cars.
